Have you ever heard of Focus on Feelings? Focus on Feelings started in 2015, with a desire to develop emotion faces to use with children in my play therapy practice. I’d like to share more valuable information with you about the products that are offered, the benefits of them, and how you can share your input on future products.
My first set of cards I printed myself on 8×10 cardstock and laminated them in my office and put them in use. After using the product for over a year I posted a picture and several therapists inquired about purchasing a set of cards.
I started to research and developed an action plan to produce a product and put it on the shelf for two years. For two years I was nervous, well let me be honest I was scared to move forward with the product development.
So in May 2018, I faced my fears and moved forward with the creation of what we know as Focus on Feelings.
Now focus on feelings is a trademarked product brand.
Focus on Feelings© is a diverse set of products created to assist children with their learning and understanding of feelings, increasing communication skills, and improving their social, as well as emotional development.
“I love the author’s diverse set of products. It is especially helpful that scenarios are used to demonstrate feelings, which helps kids learn how to appropriately identify and express their feelings. This therapeutic social/emotional learning tool is a great resource for therapists, social workers, and teachers!”
~Stefanie Sherbon, MS, LMFT Registered Play Therapist
“Focus on Feelings is a racially representative feelings identification book that assists children in improving their emotional understanding. If you have or work with children who struggle to comprehend and articulate their big emotions, this book is a perfect resource for you. Each feeling is clearly defined and examples are provided to allow children to solidify their understanding of each emotion. Highly recommend this wonderful book for mental health providers, parents, and educators.”
